Engineers Media is conscious of the privacy concerns of its customers, who are either members of Engineers Australia or non-members. Protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information is fundamental to the way we do business.

Engineers Media's policy is to comply with the requirements of the Privacy Act and the ten National Privacy Principles. Engineers Media relies on comprehensive and accurate personal information about its customers. Both Engineers Media and Engineers Australia have systems and procedures in place to protect your privacy whenever we store, use or disclose your personal information. Engineers Media is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Engineers Australia.

NON MEMBERS

We collect our own customer details by lawful and fair means and not in an unreasonable intrusive way. The collection of your information will only occur if you expressed an interest in our services or your business appears relevant to our products and services.

MEMBERS

We access your personal information directly from Engineers Australia's membership database. Engineers Australia may collect this personal information when you fill in an application form or survey, deal with them over the telephone, by letter, visit their website, or when you have contact with them in person.

The type of personal information they collect includes official and preferred names, titles, postnominals, personal awards, private and business address details, telephone and facsimile contact details both private and business, email addresses, date of birth, gender, qualifications, work experience and skills, employer information, insurance details, areas of practice, and areas of interest.

NON MEMBERS

Engineers Media collects customer information to provide you with products and services considered of value to your business.

MEMBERS

Engineer Media collects your personal information directly from Engineers Australia's membership database to provide you with a particular product or service.

We may use or disclose your personal information for purposes related or ancillary to the main reason we collect it, such as:

  • Internal accounting and administration
  • Regulatory reporting and compliance
  • We treat all personal information we hold about you as confidential. This applies except where disclosure of your personal information is:

  • Compelled by law - for example, disclosure to courts under subpoena
  • In the public interest - for example, where a complaint is made against you and disclosure is justified
  • With your consent.
  • DISCLOSURE TO THIRD PARTIES

    NON MEMBERS

    The personal information of Engineers Media customers is only disclosed to a third party (mailing house) for the dispatch of advertising material. The mailing house must sign a statement or give a written assurance to destroy the mailing data after use.

    MEMBERS

    Engineers Media is prohibited from disclosing names and addresses to third parties.

    If we have accurate personal information about you, it enables us to provide you with the best possible customer service. Engineers Media and Engineers Australia take reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is accurate, complete and up to date whenever we use it.

    If you find that current personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, please contact us immediately and we will correct it or forward it to Engineers Australia for updating.

    On request, we will provide you with information about you which is readily accessible and which may lawfully be provided. Your request to provide information will be dealt with in a reasonable time by Engineers Media and Engineers Australia.

    WE STORE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION SECURLY

    We protect members' and Engineers Media customers' personal information that we hold from misuse and loss. We protect your privacy by restricting access to your personal information to those staff who need it, either to process information or to provide you with the services.

    Your personal information may be stored in hardcopy, as electronic data, or on software systems. Engineers Media and Engineers Australia maintain physical security over paper and electronic data, their premises and their computer networks.

    RESOLVING YOUR CONCERNS

    If you believe that the privacy of your personal information has been compromised, you are entitled to complain.

    If you have a complaint, contact the area where you believe the breach has occurred. If your complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction, forward a written complaint to:

    A written complaint must identify the conduct that is the basis for the complaint and include a return address. There are no fees for lodging a complaint.

    INTERNET PRIVACY POLICY

    Engineers Media is committed to protecting your privacy when you access our online content, products and services. We do not collect your personal details other than for commercial reasons associated with the online purchase of our products or services.

    Your credit card details are sent in encrypted form to our bank using industry standard 128-bit encryption. When your transaction has been processed your credit card details are deleted from the system. Your mailing details are only provided to third parties to provide you with the products or services you have requested. Under no circumstances do we sell or receive payment for your personal details.

    We do not use "cookies" or similar technologies to collect personal details, however we do collect general website traffic information in order to evaluate our products and services.
